Melrose Sevens electrical work

Melrose 7s

Every year we are tasked with carrying out the install of the of the electrical infrastructure for Melrose sevens an event that see’s over ten thousand people descend on the small Borders town for a weekend. The works included on this job cover a wide variety of electrical services:

  • Providing temporary supplies to all tents, bars and new structures erected for the weekend’s events.

  • Installation of lighting, power, heating and bar equipment throughout various locations across the site.

  • Installation of fully equip consumer units to provide maximum electrical protection to all electrics installed across the site.

  • Having men on site at all times of the event to provide any fault finding needs and emergency cover.

  • Install of electrical supplies for temporary toilet and shower blocks.

  • Full strip out and make safe of all electrical equipment used over the weekend.

This is a project that we look forward to every year and really enjoy working with the team at Melrose Sevens.

Harbro

At the beginning of this year, we were tasked with one of our most challenging jobs to date. We won the contract to complexly rewire Harbro Farm store within the Scottish borders, but all works were to be carried out at night whilst the store was closed. This was a blend of warehouse work and shop work covering off a vast amount of electrical install and strip out:

  • Full Electrical installation of metal containment meeting a specification that is required within a warehouse that has heavy machinery operating on a daily basis.

  • A total electrical rewire, wiring in steel wire armour, single core cable and Low smoke PVC. This wiring to supply new lighting, power outlets, charging areas and shop front supplies.

  • Wire and install full coverage security lighting to meet the demands of a large car park and storage space.

  • Carry out full inspection and test on all new installation and provide all certification for new wiring.

  • Strip out all old wiring, accessories and containment. This to include all old consumer units, over 100 electrical light fittings, 100s of metres of steel conduit and tray and finally all wiring that was incorporated within the old installation.

This project was completed over a 9 week period of nightshift where the team still applied the same standards instilled by the company even whilst many others enjoyed a good night’s sleep.

Domestic

A unique and beautiful domestic project we took part in a short time ago was to convert a cottage within the countryside. The job involved wiring a new kitchen extension which would be open to eves along with a master bedroom, en-suite and utility room all attached. The unique part of this project was working with the client to design and install different ways of lighting the space that was open to the eves. This job included:

  • Wiring and installing LED down lights through the new extension this to include lighting of kitchen area, stove lighting, internal cupboard lighting and bathroom lighting.

  • Design, wire and install bespoke external lighting.

  • Installation of high end decretive electrical accessories throughout the new extension.

  • Installation of new consumer units through proving RCD and SPD protection.

  • Bespoke electrical design within the kitchen to hide electrical accessories within kitchen larder units.

The finish on this project was great and we really enjoyed our time here.
